Sarah Thompson

During the first lockdown SJ was doing the Leaving Certificate. She had art as a subject so wanted to continue painting and drawing. Her mother’s advice when stressed or bored was to paint.

Sarah found it difficult to be unable to visit her grandmother due to the nursing homes guidelines. SJ took comfort in gardening as it was something her grandmother taught her, something she could control to a certain amount. The future blooms and fruit gave her something to look forward to. This painting is of SJ’s strawberry plant's first blooms.
